Life Healthcare to take ownership of Life Bedford Gardens Hospital and adjacent medical offices following Competition Tribunal approval
The Competition Tribunal has unconditionally approved a transaction in which Life Healthcare Group (Pty) Ltd (“Life Healthcare Group”) will acquire the enterprises known as Life Bedford Gardens Hospital and its adjacent medical offices, Wingwood Place, from Redefine Properties Ltd (“Redefine”).
Following the Tribunal’s unconditional approval of the transaction, Life Healthcare will move from being the hospital’s operator and tenant to exercising sole control over both properties.
Life Healthcare Group currently leases and operates Life Bedford Gardens Hospital as a multidisciplinary private hospital. The group is part of Life Healthcare Group Holdings and operates acute hospitals and medical suites across various provinces in South Africa, as well as in Botswana. Its hospitals primarily serve privately insured patients in South Africa.
The second property, Wingwood Place, is an A-grade office development predominantly occupied by medical and healthcare practitioners. Part of Wingwood Place is already leased by Life Healthcare Group from Redefine, and sublet to medical practitioners and healthcare providers who cannot be accommodated within the hospital building. The property therefore operates largely as hospital-adjacent medical space.
