Tribunal approves Vukile’s acquisition of shopping mall serving Free State’s largest township
The Competition Tribunal has unconditionally approved a merger that will see Vukile Property Fund Ltd (“Vukile”) acquire sole control over the rental enterprise known as the Botshabelo Mall from Liberty Group Ltd (“Liberty”). The transaction will add the community shopping centre in Botshabelo, the Free State's largest township, to Vukile's retail property portfolio.
Vukile is a Real Estate Investment Trust ("REIT") listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange Ltd ("JSE") and the Namibian Stock Exchange ("NSX"), with operations in South Africa and Spain. The acquiring group, comprising Vukile and all firms directly and indirectly controlled by it, owns retail properties in the Free State.
Tribunal approves SII Rail Investments' acquisition of Traxtion
The Tribunal has unconditionally approved a merger in which SII Rail Investments GP (Pty) Ltd (“SII”) will acquire control over Traxtion (Mauritius) Ltd (“Traxtion”).
SII is a South African-registered investment vehicle which invests in a diversified portfolio of South African infrastructure assets, primarily in the renewable energy and digital infrastructure sectors. SII is controlled by STANLIB Infrastructure Fund II, a domestic private infrastructure fund ultimately controlled by Standard Bank Group Ltd.
Traxtion, an entity registered in Mauritius, provides freight rail services in South Africa through a subsidiary. Its activities include the leasing and maintenance of locomotives and rolling stock, the supply of rail components and the provision of technical, safety, compliance and training services to customers, primarily in the mining, industrial and bulk commodities sectors.
